Welcome to the Preschool Page

Welcome! Our volunteer and staff of Bay Leaf Baptist Church Preschool Ministry would like to welcome your family.

Our mission is to partner with parents as they disciple their children to develop a strong foundation for their faith. We strive to provide high quality programs offered in a clean, safe and loving environment.

In each of our programs, we are laying the foundation for our children to take their first steps toward faith and salvation. Our goal at Bay Leaf is to influence our children for Christ, while instilling in them Christian values and principles. We want for them to learn and cherish God’s word in their heart. Our Lord expressed it best in Matthew 19:14 when He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

    Check-In & Security

Your child's security is important to us. Our Bay Leaf Security Ministry has been formed and our team is composed of current Bay Leaf members who volunteer their time keeping our children safe on Sundays. The purpose of this ministry is to provide for a safe environment for all our members and visitors while they are participating in scheduled services. This ministry attempts to take away distractions from members and visitors concerning personal safety so that attention can be devoted to worshipping the Lord during services. Also, a Deputy Sheriff will be on the Preschool Hall to ensure that the procedures we have put in place are implemented effectively.

In Spring 2016, we launched our Kid Check In computer system to provide security and convenience for our families. This is an electronic check-in system that speeds up check in procedures any time your child attends a Children's event at the church. This system provides added security while your child is at church and eliminate the need to fill out forms at the room.

If this is your first visit to Bay Leaf, please visit the Welcome Center in the preschool lobby to get your information entered in the system. Once you have checked in, a nametag and a corresponding security tag will print out for all of your children. Your kids names and room assignments print right on their nametag, as well as any information the teachers need to know (allergies, etc.). There are check-in stations throughout the Preschool Hall and volunteers to assist you.

    Good Health Guidelines

We want to provide a healthy environment in our classrooms, so we ask you to keep your child at home when any of the following have occurred within the last 24 hours.

    Drainage from the eye(s)
    Green or yellow runny nose
    Frequent cough
    Questionable rash
    Sore throat

If your child becomes ill while in the classroom, you will be notified promptly.

If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, he or she should have received treatment for at least 24 hours before coming to the classroom.

What do I need to bring?

If your child is in diapers or potty training, please bring an extra set of clothes in a bag for any accidents. All items must be labeled. If your child needs a bottle or Sippy cup, please provide that as well. We have a place that you can nurse your child if needed on Sunday mornings. If this is your first time dropping off your child and a special lovey is helpful, please feel free to bring that. We want this to be a positive experience for both you and your child.

We are a PEANUT FREE preschool hall! We serve goldfish or cheerios’ and water during the 9:45 Sunday school hour. On the first Sunday of the month the older children are served doughnut holes. If your child is not able to have any of the following, please provide a snack from home that is peanut free. If your child does have an allergy, please make sure the volunteers are aware at the time of drop-off.

    Children with Special Needs

We want you to know that every child is welcomed and loved at Bay Leaf Baptist Church. We will work with the parents to provide the level of care needed to ensure your child is cared for and loved while you are attending Church, Sunday school or a CLI Class. Please contact Keri Miller ( to discuss an individual plan for your child. In most cases we are able to allow your child to attend class with his/her peers but we will assign a shadow that will give the level of support needed. Our priority is for your child to be well cared for and shown the love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

We are always looking for volunteers that are willing to share the love of Jesus Christ to the little ones! We ask that members prayerfully consider serving in our ministry. Opportunities to serve are on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings (Worship Kidz Style and Choir), Wednesday night (AWANA) and VBS (in June). If God is calling you to serve, please contact Keri Miller, Preschool Ministry Director.

All volunteers are required to complete a background check and have been faithfully attending 6 months or become a member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church.
