Acts 2:42-47
The Devoted Church
This Sunday, we’ll look at Acts 2:42–47, a passage that paints a beautiful picture of the early church living out their faith in community. As you prepare for worship, take time this weekend to read these verses and consider how God is at work among His people when they are united in devotion to Him. Listening to the songs ahead of time can also help focus your heart so that when we gather, we’re ready to worship with joy, gratitude, and anticipation for what God will do.
Doxology
Lyrics
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Praise God, the Father, Holy Lord
The heavens and the earth are yours
Almighty King upon Your throne
Creation sings Your praise alone
Praise God, the Son, the spotless Lamb
Who takes away the sins of man
Triumphant over death and grave
Your name forever shall remain
Praise God, the Spirit, promised One
The presence of our Lord with us
Pour out your power in this place
We worship You, we stand amazed
Praise God for all that He has done
Who was, and is, and is to come
All those redeemed by Mercy's love
Lift praises to the Three in One
I Will Not Be Shaken
Lyrics
He is my rock, my shield, my fortress
He’s my salvation and my strength
The cords of death,
They were surrounding me
But He heard my cry for help
He is my refuge, my high tower
He’s my deliverer so strong
The snares of death,
They were confronting me
But He heard my cry for help
So I’ll stand and trust
I’ll stand in faith
I will not be shaken
Our God will not be moved
Our God will never change
Our God will reign forevermore
How Firm A Foundation
Lyrics
How firm a foundation, O saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in his excellent Word!
What more can he say than to you he has said
Who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?
Fear not, I am with you. Oh, be not dismayed,
For I am your God and will still give you aid;
I'll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand,
Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.
When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no, never, no, never forsake.
