Isaiah 35:1-10

Home From Exile

Isaiah 35 paints a hopeful picture of a people coming home, a weary journey giving way to joy, healing, and gladness in the presence of God. This fourth Sunday of Advent, Pastor Jared Richard will preach from this passage as we reflect on the promise of restoration and the love God has shown us in Jesus Christ. As we light the candle of love, we are reminded that the Lord draws near to save, to strengthen faint hearts, and to lead His people on the way that leads home. Take some time this weekend to read Isaiah 35:1-10 and let its words shape your anticipation as we gather to worship the God who meets us in our waiting and fills us with lasting hope.

Hark! the Herald Angels Sing

Lyrics

Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King:
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With the angelic hosts proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"

Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ, the everlasting Lord,
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of the Virgin's womb:
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail the incarnate Deity,
Pleased as man with men to dwell,
Jesus, our Immanuel.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings.
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that we no more may die,
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give us second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"

Gloria, Gloria!

Lyrics

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus, laid down His sweet head
The stars in the sky, looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes
The dawn of salvation, beginning to break
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, oh, gift from above
The King of the Heavens, forever with us!

I worship You, Jesus, for all of my days!
The highest of praises be unto Your name!
My God and my Savior! My King and my Friend!

Yours is the glory, forever, Amen!
Yours is the glory, forever, Amen!
Yours is the glory, forever, Amen!

Lyrics

Hear the heart of Heaven beating
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
And the hush of mercy breathing
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
Hear the host of angels sing
"Glory to the Newborn King"
And the sounding joy repeating
"Jesus saves"

See the humblest hearts adore Him
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
And the wisest bow before Him
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
See the sky alight with praise
Melting darkness in its place
There is light forevermore, and
Jesus saves

He will live our sorrow sharing
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
He will die our burden bearing
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
"It is done!", we'll shout across
Christ has paid redemption's cost
While the empty tomb's declaring
"Jesus saves"

Freedom's calling, chains are falling
Hope is dawning, bright and true
Day is breaking, night is quaking
God is making all things new
Jesus saves

Oh, to grace, how great a debtor
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
All the saints who shout together
"I know that Jesus saves"
Rising up so vast and strong
Lifting up salvation's song
The redeemed will sing forever
"Jesus saves"

Lyrics

Come behold the wondrous mystery
In the dawning of the King
He the theme of heaven’s praises
Robed in frail humanity
In our longing, in our darkness
Now the light of life has come
Look to Christ, who condescended
Took on flesh to ransom us

Come behold the wondrous mystery
He the perfect Son of Man
In His living, in His suffering
Never trace nor stain of sin
See the true and better Adam
Come to save the hell-bound man
Christ the great and sure fulfillment
Of the law; in Him we stand

Come behold the wondrous mystery
Christ the Lord upon the tree
In the stead of ruined sinners
Hangs the Lamb in victory
See the price of our redemption
See the Father’s plan unfold
Bringing many sons to glory
Grace unmeasured, love untold

Come behold the wondrous mystery
Slain by death the God of life
But no grave could e’er restrain Him
Praise the Lord; He is alive!
What a foretaste of deliverance
How unwavering our hope
Christ in power resurrected
As we will be when he comes

What a foretaste of deliverance
How unwavering our hope
Christ in power resurrected
As we will be when he comes
